HiPP Dutch Goat Formula Stage 1 for Newborns 0 to 6 Months

HiPP Dutch Goat Formula Stage 1 is an EU-certified organic infant formula suitable from birth to 6 months, built on an organic goat milk base. Goat milk is naturally higher in A2 beta-casein compared to standard cow's milk formulas, which some parents find gentler for their babies. As with any formula choice, please discuss with your pediatrician before switching, and note that breast milk remains the recommended first choice for newborns.

HiPP: A German Organic Pioneer Since 1899

HiPP was founded in 1899 in Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm, Germany, and remains a family-owned company now in its fourth generation under Stefan Hipp. The brand carries EU organic certification and the HiPP Bio-Siegel, which sets standards beyond the EU baseline.

The Dutch Goat line is a Dutch-market product manufactured in Germany to EU organic standards. It carries the EU organic leaf logo with the control-body code DE-ÖKO-001 shown on the can, alongside HiPP's 'Personally Guaranteed' organic seal, with ingredients sourced from certified organic farming. It is not Demeter certified.

Organic Goat Milk, Naturally Rich in A2 Beta-Casein

Stage 1 is designed for infants from birth to approximately 6 months. The formula is built on organic goat milk, which is naturally higher in A2 beta-casein protein than most conventional cow's milk formulas. Some parents choose goat milk formula as an alternative to cow's milk for this reason.

It is important to note that goat's milk formula is not hypoallergenic and is not appropriate for infants with a diagnosed cow's milk protein allergy, due to protein cross-reactivity. The formula uses intact, non-hydrolyzed goat milk protein and is intended for healthy full-term infants without diagnosed milk allergies. If your baby has a confirmed allergy, please consult your doctor before use.

Ingredients and Composition

The carbohydrate source is lactose with galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS) derived from lactose. No starch or maltodextrin is present in Stage 1. The vegetable oil blend includes organic palm oil. DHA is provided from fish oil, and ARA is present sourced from Mortierella alpina oil.

All key ingredients carry the organic designation, and the formula carries the EU organic logo with the control-body code DE-ÖKO-001 shown on the can. It is EU organic certified but not Demeter biodynamic.

Authentic European Formula, Shipped to the US

Every can of HiPP goat milk formula sold through Organic Formula Europe is sourced from European stock and shipped directly to US families. You receive the authentic Dutch-market can with original EU labeling, so you can verify the product's certifications and ingredient sourcing.

Organic Formula Europe is a specialist importer, which means each order is handled with the traceability and care that parents of young infants deserve.

Preparation and Everyday Use

Prepare each feed freshly following the instructions on the can. Powdered infant formula is not sterile, so use water that has been appropriately treated and heated as directed on the packaging. Do not store reconstituted formula beyond the time stated by the manufacturer.

When your baby reaches 6 months, HiPP Dutch Goat Formula Stage 2 continues the organic goat milk journey as a follow-on formula.

How to Prepare Powdered Formula

  1. Boil fresh water for each feed and let it cool to the temperature printed on your can. Powdered infant formula is not sterile, so the CDC and WHO advise that water at about 158°F (70°C) lowers the risk of Cronobacter, especially for newborns and higher-risk infants. Follow your can's instructions and ask your pediatrician which approach is right for your baby.
  2. Pour about two-thirds of the required water into a clean, sterilized bottle.
  3. Use only the scoop provided with your formula pack (sizes may vary). Add the correct number of level scoops - 1 scoop per 1 oz / 30 ml of water.
  4. Close the bottle with the nipple and cap. Shake vigorously until all powder is dissolved.
  5. Add the remaining water and shake again.
  6. Cool to drinking temperature (approx. 98 °F / 37 °C). Always test the milk temperature before feeding to avoid scalding your baby.

Important Information

  1. Only use the scoop included in the package.
  2. Do not make feeds weaker or stronger than indicated. Do not add extra water, scoops, or other ingredients.
  3. Always prepare fresh. Do not prepare bottles in advance. Discard any leftovers after each feed.
  4. Never heat bottles in the microwave - hot spots can cause burns.
  5. Once opened, use formula within 21 days. Never use beyond the expiration date printed on the box/tin (format: day/month/year).
  6. Avoid storing formula in hot or humid environments.

Breast milk is the best source of nutrition for infants. Please consult your pediatrician before introducing or changing infant formula. Infant formula is designed to meet the nutritional requirements of infants according to age. It contains carbohydrates, which are an essential part of infant nutrition. As with any carbohydrate-containing liquids, frequent or prolonged contact with the teeth may increase the risk of tooth decay. To support healthy dental habits, avoid extended bottle use and encourage transitioning to a cup when age-appropriate.

Packaging may change without notice. Always follow the preparation, storage, and feeding instructions provided on your product packaging.

What makes HiPP Dutch Goat Formula Stage 1 different from regular cow milk formulas?

HiPP Dutch Goat Formula Stage 1 is built on organic goat milk, which is naturally higher in A2 beta-casein and lower in A1 than most cow's milk formulas. Some parents choose organic goat milk formula as an alternative to cow's milk for this reason. It is an organic option for healthy full-term infants from birth to 6 months. Please note that goat's milk formula is not hypoallergenic and is not suitable for infants with a diagnosed cow's milk protein allergy. Breast milk remains the recommended first choice, so please talk to your pediatrician before switching.

Is HiPP Dutch Goat Formula Stage 1 suitable for babies with lactose intolerance?

No. HiPP Dutch Goat Formula Stage 1 contains lactose as its main carbohydrate, so it is not suitable for infants with a diagnosed lactose intolerance. It is made from goat milk, which is naturally higher in A2 beta-casein and lower in A1 than cow's milk, but it still contains lactose and milk protein and is not suitable for infants with a diagnosed cow's milk protein allergy. If your baby has been diagnosed with lactose intolerance, please consult your pediatrician before choosing any formula.

How do I prepare HiPP Dutch Goat Formula Stage 1 correctly?

Preparing HiPP Dutch Goat Formula Stage 1 is straightforward but requires attention to detail. Boil fresh water for each feed and let it cool to the temperature printed on your can. Because powdered infant formula is not sterile, the CDC and WHO advise that water at about 158°F (70°C) lowers the risk of Cronobacter, especially for newborns and higher-risk infants; follow your can's instructions and ask your pediatrician which approach is right for your baby. Pour about two-thirds of the required water into a sterilized bottle, add the correct number of level scoops using the provided scoop (1 scoop per 1 oz / 30 ml of water), and shake vigorously. Add the remaining water, shake again, and cool to drinking temperature (approx. 98°F/37°C). Always test the temperature before feeding your baby. Prepare each bottle fresh, feed it right away, and discard any formula left in the bottle after a feed rather than saving it for later.

What are the key nutritional benefits of HiPP Dutch Goat Formula Stage 1?

HiPP Dutch Goat Formula Stage 1 is manufactured in Germany to EU organic standards. It provides vitamins A, C and D and contains the omega-3 (DHA) and omega-6 (ARA) fatty acids that EU rules require in infant formula. As an EU organic product, it is made without synthetic pesticides, synthetic fertilisers or GMOs, and organic farming rules prohibit the routine use of growth hormones and antibiotics.

Can I switch directly from breastfeeding or another formula to HiPP Dutch Goat Stage 1?

Yes, you can transition to HiPP Dutch Goat Formula Stage 1, and it is best to do so gradually over 5 to 7 days. Start by replacing one feeding with the new formula, then slowly increase the number of HiPP Dutch Goat feedings while reducing the previous milk source. A gradual change gives you time to watch how your baby responds. If you are transitioning from breastfeeding, remember that breast milk remains the recommended first choice, so please discuss any change with your pediatrician.
