Kendamil Organic Formula Stage 2 for Babies 6 to 12 Months
Kendamil Organic Formula Stage 2 is a certified organic follow-on formula made in Kendal, Cumbria, for babies from 6 to 12 months. It continues the brand's whole-milk, no-palm-oil approach that parents started with in Stage 1, now reformulated to complement the introduction of solid foods during the weaning period. We always recommend speaking with your pediatrician before transitioning stages or changing your baby's feeding routine. Breastfeeding, when possible, remains the recommended standard for infant nutrition.
Kendamil and the English Lake District
Kendamil has produced formula in the Lake District since 1962. The McMahon family relaunched the Kendamil brand in 2016, refocusing the company on transparent, premium European formula with a short, clean ingredient list. The Organic line is certified by the Soil Association, the UK's principal organic certifying body, and the milk base comes from farms and are also certified according to EU organic livestock standards.

Stage 2 for the Weaning Period, 6 to 12 Months
Follow-on formula Stage 2 is designed for babies aged 6 months and older who have begun exploring solid foods. European regulations define follow-on formula as a complement to a varied weaning diet, not a replacement for it. Kendamil Organic Stage 2 adapts the nutrient profile to match the changing needs of a baby at this stage while keeping the same foundational ingredients that parents know from Stage 1.
The base is organic whole cow milk, providing naturally occurring milk fats alongside added organic vegetable oils. The formula contains no palm oil. DHA is supplied by plant-based algae, and ARA is also present. This is the same approach found across the Kendamil follow-on range, which you can compare alongside other European Stage 2 options.
Ingredients and Key Composition
The carbohydrate source is lactose from milk, supplemented with organic galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS). No maltodextrin or added starch is listed in the registry for Stage 2. GOS are prebiotic fibers that support healthy gut bacteria during the weaning transition, like this study shows.
The protein is intact cow milk protein, not hydrolyzed. Stage 2 is not suitable for babies with a diagnosed cow's milk protein allergy. The Soil Association certification covers the organic farming and processing standards applied to the formula. No artificial additives are included.

How to Prepare Stage 2
Always follow the preparation guide on the can. Use freshly boiled water cooled to the temperature specified on the label. Level each scoop with the scoop included in the can and avoid packing or heaping. Discard any formula not consumed within the time stated on the packaging.
Store opened cans in a cool, dry location, tightly sealed, and use within the period printed on the label.

How to Prepare Powdered Formula
- Boil fresh water for each feed and let it cool to the temperature printed on your can. Powdered infant formula is not sterile, so the CDC and WHO advise that water at about 158°F (70°C) lowers the risk of Cronobacter, especially for newborns and higher-risk infants. Follow your can's instructions and ask your pediatrician which approach is right for your baby.
- Pour about two-thirds of the required water into a clean, sterilized bottle.
- Use only the scoop provided with your formula pack (sizes may vary). Add the correct number of level scoops - 1 scoop per 1 oz / 30 ml of water.
- Close the bottle with the nipple and cap. Shake vigorously until all powder is dissolved.
- Add the remaining water and shake again.
- Cool to drinking temperature (approx. 98 °F / 37 °C). Always test the milk temperature before feeding to avoid scalding your baby.
Important Information
- Only use the scoop included in the package.
- Do not make feeds weaker or stronger than indicated. Do not add extra water, scoops, or other ingredients.
- Always prepare fresh. Do not prepare bottles in advance. Discard any leftovers after each feed.
- Never heat bottles in the microwave - hot spots can cause burns.
- Once opened, use formula within 21 days. Never use beyond the expiration date printed on the box/tin (format: day/month/year).
- Avoid storing formula in hot or humid environments.
