Holle Goat Dutch Formula Stage 2 for Babies 6 to 12 Months

Holle Goat Dutch Formula Stage 2 is a Demeter biodynamic follow-on formula based on whole goat milk, formulated for babies from 6 months onward as solid foods begin to complement formula feeding. Produced in Germany by a brand with over 90 years of organic expertise, it continues the same biodynamic goat milk foundation as Stage 1 while adjusting the nutrient profile for this new phase of growth. As always, breast milk is the best choice for infants, and your pediatrician is the right resource for feeding advice specific to your baby.

Holle and Demeter Biodynamic Standards

Holle was founded in 1933 in Riehen, Switzerland, and has been producing certified organic baby food for over 90 years. Its formulas are manufactured in Germany and certified to Demeter biodynamic standards, which require farms to meet strict criteria for soil health, ecological balance, and animal welfare. These standards represent a higher bar than standard EU organic certification alone.

The Stage 2 formula holds a total Demeter share of 74 percent, a higher proportion than Stage 1, reflecting the increased use of biodynamic-certified ingredients as the formula matures with your baby. You can explore Holle goat milk formulas across all stages to see how each one is designed to match your baby's changing needs.

Designed for Babies from 6 Months

From around 6 months, babies start to explore first foods, and formula transitions from a sole nutrition source to one part of a broader diet. Stage 2 is designed for this phase. It maintains the whole goat milk base of full-cream goat milk and goat milk powder that families who started with Holle Dutch Formula collection will already be familiar with.

As a reminder, goat milk formula is not hypoallergenic. It is not suitable for babies with a confirmed cow's milk protein allergy due to cross-reactivity between goat and cow milk proteins. Please consult your pediatrician if you have concerns about milk protein allergy.

Ingredients and Nutrition at Stage 2

The carbohydrate blend in Stage 2 expands to include lactose, maltodextrin, and starch alongside the goat milk base. This is typical for follow-on formulas at this stage, providing sustained energy as activity levels increase. The vegetable oil blend uses sunflower oil and rapeseed oil, and this formula contains no palm oil.

DHA is derived from oil from the microalgae Schizochytrium sp. ARA is not present in Stage 2, which aligns with the reduced ARA requirements at this age. The formula does not contain added probiotic cultures. Its clean-label composition is free from GMOs, soy, gluten, added sugar, corn syrup, artificial colors, and synthetic flavorings.

European Quality Shipped Directly to Your Door

Holle Goat Dutch Formula Stage 2 is produced under EU infant formula regulations, which set rigorous nutrient, safety, and labeling standards. Organic Formula Europe ships authentic, sealed cans from Europe to families in the United States, ensuring the product you receive is exactly what is sold in European markets.

The expiration date follows the European DD/MM/YYYY format. A date printed as 01/09/2026 means September 1, 2026. Store the can in a cool, dry place and use within the period stated on the label once opened.

Preparation and Feeding

Follow the preparation instructions on the can precisely. Use freshly boiled water cooled to the temperature stated in the instructions, and prepare each bottle just before feeding rather than in advance. The measuring scoop included in the can should be the only tool you use to measure powder. Powdered infant formula is not a sterile product, so good hygiene throughout preparation is essential.

How to Prepare Powdered Formula

  1. Boil fresh water for each feed and let it cool to the temperature printed on your can. Powdered infant formula is not sterile, so the CDC and WHO advise that water at about 158°F (70°C) lowers the risk of Cronobacter, especially for newborns and higher-risk infants. Follow your can's instructions and ask your pediatrician which approach is right for your baby.
  2. Pour about two-thirds of the required water into a clean, sterilized bottle.
  3. Use only the scoop provided with your formula pack (sizes may vary). Add the correct number of level scoops - 1 scoop per 1 oz / 30 ml of water.
  4. Close the bottle with the nipple and cap. Shake vigorously until all powder is dissolved.
  5. Add the remaining water and shake again.
  6. Cool to drinking temperature (approx. 98 °F / 37 °C). Always test the milk temperature before feeding to avoid scalding your baby.

Important Information

  1. Only use the scoop included in the package.
  2. Do not make feeds weaker or stronger than indicated. Do not add extra water, scoops, or other ingredients.
  3. Always prepare fresh. Do not prepare bottles in advance. Discard any leftovers after each feed.
  4. Never heat bottles in the microwave - hot spots can cause burns.
  5. Once opened, use formula within 21 days. Never use beyond the expiration date printed on the box/tin (format: day/month/year).
  6. Avoid storing formula in hot or humid environments.

Breast milk is the best source of nutrition for infants. Please consult your pediatrician before introducing or changing infant formula. Infant formula is designed to meet the nutritional requirements of infants according to age. It contains carbohydrates, which are an essential part of infant nutrition. As with any carbohydrate-containing liquids, frequent or prolonged contact with the teeth may increase the risk of tooth decay. To support healthy dental habits, avoid extended bottle use and encourage transitioning to a cup when age-appropriate.

Packaging may change without notice. Always follow the preparation, storage, and feeding instructions provided on your product packaging.

Why should I choose Holle Goat Dutch Formula Stage 2 for my baby?

Holle Goat Dutch Formula Stage 2 is an excellent choice for babies six months and older who may have sensitivities to cow's milk. Made with whole organic goat's milk from Demeter-certified farms, this formula naturally contains less lactose than cow's milk formulas, making it gentler on little tummies. The formula provides complete nutrition with essential vitamins, minerals, and DHA for healthy development. When you choose Organic Formulas from trusted European brands like Holle, you're ensuring your baby receives the highest quality nutrition without synthetic preservatives, chemicals, or GMOs.

What makes goat milk formula different from cow milk formula?

Goat milk has a naturally different protein structure that many babies find easier to digest. The protein molecules in goat milk form smaller, softer curds in baby's stomach, which can lead to better digestion and less discomfort. Additionally, goat milk contains naturally lower levels of lactose compared to cow's milk. Holle Goat Dutch Stage 2 harnesses these benefits while maintaining all the essential nutrients your growing baby needs, including calcium, iron, zinc, and vitamins A, C, D, and B12.

What ingredients are in Holle Goat Dutch Formula Stage 2?

This clean and simple formula starts with full-cream goat milk and goat milk powder from biodynamic Demeter farms. It includes organic lactose, maltodextrin, and starch for energy, plus a careful blend of organic vegetable oils including sunflower and rapeseed oil. The formula is enriched with DHA from algae oil for brain development, along with essential vitamins and minerals. With 74% of ingredients coming from Demeter biodynamic farming, you can trust that your baby is getting pure, high-quality nutrition without unnecessary additives.

When should I transition to Holle Goat Stage 2 from Stage 1?

Holle Goat Stage 2 is designed for babies from six months onwards, perfectly timed with the introduction of solid foods. If your baby has been thriving on Holle Goat Stage 1 or any other Holle Goat Milk Formula, the transition is typically smooth. The Stage 2 formula contains slightly different nutrient ratios to support your growing baby's changing needs, including more iron and other minerals crucial for this developmental stage. Always follow the feeding guidelines on the package and consult with your pediatrician if you have specific concerns about timing.

How do I know if my baby needs a goat milk formula?

Signs that your baby might benefit from goat milk formula include frequent spit-up, gas, constipation, or general fussiness after feeding with cow milk formula. Some babies also develop skin issues or have difficulty gaining weight on cow milk formulas. While goat milk formula isn't technically hypoallergenic, many parents find it works well as an alternative when their babies show sensitivity to cow milk proteins. Holle's commitment to organic, biodynamic farming practices means you're also choosing a formula free from pesticides and artificial ingredients that could contribute to sensitivities.
