Kendamil Goat Formula Stage 1 for Newborns 0 to 6 Months

Kendamil Goat Formula Stage 1 is an infant formula for babies from birth to 6 months, using whole goat milk as its base rather than cow's milk. Made by the McMahon family's company in Kendal, Cumbria, it carries the same no-palm-oil commitment found across the Kendamil range. Because goat milk is not hypoallergenic and is not appropriate for infants with a diagnosed cow's milk protein allergy, please consult your pediatrician before choosing this formula.

Kendamil: A Family-Owned British Brand

Kendamil was established by the McMahon family, with the company's Cumbrian factory tracing its origins to 1962 and the Kendamil brand launching in 2016. The brand remains family-owned, with Ross McMahon and co-founders Will and Dylan McMahon continuing to lead the business.

All Kendamil Goat line cans sold on the EU market, including those shipped by Organic Formula Europe, are labeled Product of the EU. The Goat line is non-organic. For first-stage cow-milk options from Kendamil, you can compare on the Kendamil Formula collection page.

Whole Goat Milk and the A2 Beta-Casein Difference

Kendamil Goat Stage 1 uses whole goat milk as its primary ingredient. Goat milk is naturally higher in A2 beta-casein protein compared to standard cow's milk. Some families find goat-milk formulas easier on their baby's digestion, though research is still developing and individual responses vary.

It is important to note that goat milk formula is not hypoallergenic. Because of protein cross-reactivity, it is not suitable for infants with a confirmed cow's milk protein allergy. If your baby has a diagnosed allergy, work with your pediatrician to find an appropriate formula.

Ingredients and Composition

The base is whole goat milk. Carbohydrates come from lactose (from goat milk), and the formula includes GOS prebiotics. No maltodextrin is listed in the Stage 1 recipe.

Vegetable oils are sunflower, coconut, and rapeseed. No palm oil is used in Kendamil Goat Stage 1. DHA is sourced from microalgae (Schizochytrium sp.), making the formula vegetarian friendly, and ARA is included from oil of Mortierella alpina.

European Quality and Ordering From Organic Formula Europe

Kendamil Goat Formula is produced to EU infant formula standards, which require DHA and set strict nutrient and safety parameters. The EU framework governs everything from raw-material sourcing to labeling.

Organic Formula Europe ships authentic EU-market cans to the United States. Best-before dates are printed in European DD/MM/YYYY format. You can explore the full goat range on the Kendamil Goat Milk Formula collection page.

Preparation and Everyday Use

Prepare Kendamil Goat Stage 1 following the instructions on the can. Use freshly boiled water cooled to the temperature stated on the label, and measure powder with the enclosed scoop. Use prepared formula promptly and discard any remainder.

How to Prepare Powdered Formula

  1. Boil fresh water for each feed and let it cool to the temperature printed on your can. Powdered infant formula is not sterile, so the CDC and WHO advise that water at about 158°F (70°C) lowers the risk of Cronobacter, especially for newborns and higher-risk infants. Follow your can's instructions and ask your pediatrician which approach is right for your baby.
  2. Pour about two-thirds of the required water into a clean, sterilized bottle.
  3. Use only the scoop provided with your formula pack (sizes may vary). Add the correct number of level scoops - 1 scoop per 1 oz / 30 ml of water.
  4. Close the bottle with the nipple and cap. Shake vigorously until all powder is dissolved.
  5. Add the remaining water and shake again.
  6. Cool to drinking temperature (approx. 98 °F / 37 °C). Always test the milk temperature before feeding to avoid scalding your baby.

Important Information

  1. Only use the scoop included in the package.
  2. Do not make feeds weaker or stronger than indicated. Do not add extra water, scoops, or other ingredients.
  3. Always prepare fresh. Do not prepare bottles in advance. Discard any leftovers after each feed.
  4. Never heat bottles in the microwave - hot spots can cause burns.
  5. Once opened, use formula within 21 days. Never use beyond the expiration date printed on the box/tin (format: day/month/year).
  6. Avoid storing formula in hot or humid environments.

Breast milk is the best source of nutrition for infants. Please consult your pediatrician before introducing or changing infant formula. Infant formula is designed to meet the nutritional requirements of infants according to age. It contains carbohydrates, which are an essential part of infant nutrition. As with any carbohydrate-containing liquids, frequent or prolonged contact with the teeth may increase the risk of tooth decay. To support healthy dental habits, avoid extended bottle use and encourage transitioning to a cup when age-appropriate.

Packaging may change without notice. Always follow the preparation, storage, and feeding instructions provided on your product packaging.

Is Kendamil Goat Formula Stage 1 suitable for newborns?

Yes, Kendamil Goat Formula Stage 1 is specifically designed for infants from birth to 6 months. Made with gentle A2 goat milk proteins and a balanced 60:40 whey to casein ratio, this formula provides complete nutrition for your newborn. The lactose-based carbohydrates make it easy to digest, while the full-cream goat milk offers a naturally creamy texture that many babies love. When you choose Organic Formulas from Europe, you're giving your little one a formula that closely mimics the nutritional profile of breast milk.

What makes Kendamil Goat Formula different from cow milk formulas?

Kendamil Goat Formula contains A2 milk proteins, which many babies find easier to digest than the A1 proteins found in most cow milk formulas. The smaller fat globules in goat milk are naturally closer in size to those in breast milk, promoting better absorption. Additionally, this formula includes unique ingredients like milk fat globule membrane (MFGM) and human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs), making it nutritionally similar to breast milk. Unlike many formulas, Kendamil uses no palm oil and contains plant-based DHA from algae, making it both gentle on tummies and environmentally conscious.

Can I use Kendamil Goat Formula if my baby has a sensitive stomach?

Many parents find that Kendamil Goat Formula works wonderfully for babies with sensitive tummies. The gentle A2 goat milk proteins and absence of palm oil make it easier to digest than many conventional formulas. Customer feedback frequently mentions how this formula helps soothe colicky babies and reduces digestive discomfort. The natural prebiotics and probiotics support healthy gut development, while the creamy texture and pleasant taste make feeding time enjoyable. If your baby struggles with cow milk formulas, this goat milk formula could be the perfect alternative.

How do I know when to transition from Stage 1 to Stage 2?

Kendamil Goat Formula Stage 1 provides complete nutrition for babies from birth to 6 months. As your baby approaches 6 months and begins showing interest in solid foods, you can transition to Stage 2, which is formulated to complement a weaning diet. Signs your baby may be ready include sitting up with support, showing interest in what you're eating, and needing more frequent feeds. The transition between stages ensures your growing baby receives age-appropriate nutrition throughout their development, from infancy through toddlerhood with Stage 3.

What certifications does Kendamil Goat Formula have?

Kendamil Goat Formula carries the prestigious UK Red Tractor certification, ensuring the highest standards of food safety, animal welfare, and environmental protection. The goats are raised without hormones or antibiotics on British farms that meet strict welfare standards. Additionally, the formula is certified vegetarian, as it uses plant-based DHA and contains no animal rennet. Free from GMOs, synthetic additives, corn syrup, and soy, this formula meets the rigorous European standards that many parents trust for their babies' nutrition.
