Holle Organic Baby Formula Stage 3 for Babies 10 to 12 Months

Holle Organic Baby Formula Stage 3 is a Demeter biodynamic growing-up milk based on organic skimmed cow milk, designed for toddlers from around 10 months as a nutritional complement to an increasingly varied solid food diet. Made in Germany by Holle, a brand with over 90 years of organic and biodynamic expertise, it rounds out the Holle Organic Cow line with the same commitment to clean ingredients and certified sourcing. Your pediatrician can help you decide whether a growing-up milk is appropriate for your child and when to introduce it.

Holle's Organic and Biodynamic Standards

Founded in 1933 and headquartered in Riehen, Switzerland, Holle is one of Europe's oldest and most respected organic baby food producers. Its formulas are manufactured in Germany and certified to Demeter biodynamic standards, a certification that requires farms to function as self-sustaining ecosystems with tight controls over animal welfare, soil health, and biodiversity.

Stage 3 carries a total Demeter share of 68 percent, with the cow milk base sourced from Demeter-certified farms. For families who have followed the Holle cow milk line from the beginning, Stage 3 provides consistent Demeter-certified nutrition into the toddler phase. Explore the Holle Formula Stage 3 page for more details on this product and how to use it.

A Growing-Up Milk from Around 10 Months

Stage 3 is intended for toddlers from approximately 10 months old, a point when solid foods typically make up a significant portion of daily nutrition. Growing-up milks are not mandatory, but many parents find them a practical way to ensure consistent nutrient intake alongside a mixed diet.

The formula uses organic Demeter-certified skimmed cow milk and whey protein, with intact proteins. It is not hydrolyzed, so it is suitable for healthy toddlers without a cow's milk protein allergy. If you are thinking about transitioning to a toddler milk, the Holle toddler formula collection gives you a broader view of options at this stage.

Ingredients and Nutritional Composition

At Stage 3, the carbohydrate blend includes maltodextrin and starch alongside lactose from the milk base, providing a sustained energy profile for an active toddler. The vegetable oil blend contains organic palm oil. DHA is supplied by oil from the microalgae Schizochytrium sp. ARA is not present in Stage 3.

The formula contains no added probiotic cultures or prebiotic GOS. It is free from synthetic preservatives and artificial additives. As with all stages in the Holle Organic Cow line, the ingredient list is kept straightforward in line with the brand's biodynamic principles.

Preparation and Serving

Follow the preparation instructions on the can at each feeding. Use freshly boiled water cooled to the temperature stated on the label, and prepare each serving fresh. How to Prepare Powdered Formula

  1. Boil fresh water for each feed and let it cool to the temperature printed on your can. Powdered infant formula is not sterile, so the CDC and WHO advise that water at about 158°F (70°C) lowers the risk of Cronobacter, especially for newborns and higher-risk infants. Follow your can's instructions and ask your pediatrician which approach is right for your baby.
  2. Pour about two-thirds of the required water into a clean, sterilized bottle.
  3. Use only the scoop provided with your formula pack (sizes may vary). Add the correct number of level scoops - 1 scoop per 1 oz / 30 ml of water.
  4. Close the bottle with the nipple and cap. Shake vigorously until all powder is dissolved.
  5. Add the remaining water and shake again.
  6. Cool to drinking temperature (approx. 98 °F / 37 °C). Always test the milk temperature before feeding to avoid scalding your baby.

Important Information

  1. Only use the scoop included in the package.
  2. Do not make feeds weaker or stronger than indicated. Do not add extra water, scoops, or other ingredients.
  3. Always prepare fresh. Do not prepare bottles in advance. Discard any leftovers after each feed.
  4. Never heat bottles in the microwave - hot spots can cause burns.
  5. Once opened, use formula within 21 days. Never use beyond the expiration date printed on the box/tin (format: day/month/year).
  6. Avoid storing formula in hot or humid environments.

Breast milk is the best source of nutrition for infants. Please consult your pediatrician before introducing or changing infant formula. Infant formula is designed to meet the nutritional requirements of infants according to age. It contains carbohydrates, which are an essential part of infant nutrition. As with any carbohydrate-containing liquids, frequent or prolonged contact with the teeth may increase the risk of tooth decay. To support healthy dental habits, avoid extended bottle use and encourage transitioning to a cup when age-appropriate.

Packaging may change without notice. Always follow the preparation, storage, and feeding instructions provided on your product packaging.

What makes Holle Stage 3 different from other formulas for older babies?

Holle Stage 3 is specially crafted with Demeter-certified milk, the highest organic standard available. This means the milk comes from cows that enjoy year-round fresh air access and are fed 100% organic fodder. The formula contains a balanced blend of nutrients specifically designed for babies 10-12 months old, including plant-based DHA from algae rather than fish oil, which ensures no fishy taste while supporting your baby's cognitive development.

When should I switch my baby to Holle Stage 3 formula?

Holle Stage 3 is designed for babies from 10 months until 12 months of age. You can transition to Stage 3 after using Holle Stage 2 or any other follow-on formula. As your little one approaches their first birthday and their nutritional needs evolve, Stage 3 provides the perfect balance of nutrients to complement their expanding diet of solid foods. When exploring different Organic Formulas, it's important to choose the stage that matches your baby's developmental needs.

Does Holle Stage 3 contain added sugars?

No, Holle Stage 3 contains no added sugars. Instead of artificial sweeteners, your baby receives natural energy from organic lactose and complementary carbohydrates like maltodextrin and starch. This thoughtful formulation helps avoid the health issues associated with excessive sugar consumption in infancy while still providing the energy growing babies need for their active days.

How does Holle Stage 3 support my baby's digestion?

Holle Stage 3 includes maltodextrin as an energy source, which has been shown to support healthy digestion. According to research published in the European Journal of Nutrition, maltodextrin can help improve stool frequency, volume, and consistency due to its easy digestibility. This gentle formulation is particularly beneficial for babies transitioning to more solid foods. Parents looking for the best Holle Formula Stage 3 often appreciate how well it supports their baby's digestive comfort.

Is Holle Stage 3 suitable for babies with sensitive tummies?

While Holle Stage 3 features a gentle, minimal ingredient formulation that many babies tolerate well, every baby is unique. The formula's simple recipe with high-quality Demeter milk and carefully selected ingredients makes it easier to digest than many conventional formulas. However, if your baby has specific sensitivities or allergies, it's always best to consult with your pediatrician before making any formula changes.
