HiPP Organic Baby Formula Stage 2 for Babies from 6 Months

HiPP Organic Baby Formula Stage 2 is a German Combiotik follow-on formula for babies from 6 months onward, designed to complement the introduction of solid foods. Speak with your pediatrician to confirm the right time to transition your baby to a follow-on formula.

Over a Century of Family Expertise in Germany

HiPP has been a family-run company since 1899, now in its fourth generation under Stefan Hipp, headquartered in Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm, Germany, with more than 60 years of experience in milk-based formula. Stage 2 carries the EU organic seal (DE-ÖKO-001) and HiPP's own additional Bio-Seal. It is an EU organic follow-on formula manufactured in Germany and supplied to families across Europe and the United States.

What Stage 2 Is and Who It Is For

Stage 2 is a follow-on formula for babies from 6 months of age, used alongside the gradual introduction of weaning foods. It belongs to HiPP's German Combiotik line, which includes GOS prebiotics and natural lactic acid cultures.

If your baby started on HiPP German Stage 1, Stage 2 continues the same Combiotik approach with a nutrient profile adjusted for the 6-months-plus stage. Breast milk or a Stage 1 formula remains appropriate for infants under 6 months, and your pediatrician can advise on the right timing for your baby.

Ingredients and Composition

Stage 2 is based on organic skimmed cow's milk and an organic whey product. Carbohydrates come from lactose as the main sugar, with organic starch also present to provide a slightly more filling texture suitable for older infants. Organic palm oil is included as part of the vegetable oil blend alongside other organic oils.

DHA is sourced from fish oil, in line with the EU's mandatory DHA standard for infant and follow-on formula. ARA is not present in Stage 2. The Combiotik system adds GOS (galacto-oligosaccharide) prebiotics and probiotic cultures. No soy protein is used.

Preparation and Everyday Use

Prepare each feeding fresh according to the feeding guide and scoop size printed on the carton. Powdered infant formula is not sterile, so following the water temperature and preparation instructions on the label is important. How to Prepare Powdered Formula

  1. Boil fresh water for each feed and let it cool to the temperature printed on your can. Powdered infant formula is not sterile, so the CDC and WHO advise that water at about 158°F (70°C) lowers the risk of Cronobacter, especially for newborns and higher-risk infants. Follow your can's instructions and ask your pediatrician which approach is right for your baby.
  2. Pour about two-thirds of the required water into a clean, sterilized bottle.
  3. Use only the scoop provided with your formula pack (sizes may vary). Add the correct number of level scoops - 1 scoop per 1 oz / 30 ml of water.
  4. Close the bottle with the nipple and cap. Shake vigorously until all powder is dissolved.
  5. Add the remaining water and shake again.
  6. Cool to drinking temperature (approx. 98 °F / 37 °C). Always test the milk temperature before feeding to avoid scalding your baby.

Important Information

  1. Only use the scoop included in the package.
  2. Do not make feeds weaker or stronger than indicated. Do not add extra water, scoops, or other ingredients.
  3. Always prepare fresh. Do not prepare bottles in advance. Discard any leftovers after each feed.
  4. Never heat bottles in the microwave - hot spots can cause burns.
  5. Once opened, use formula within 21 days. Never use beyond the expiration date printed on the box/tin (format: day/month/year).
  6. Avoid storing formula in hot or humid environments.

Breast milk is the best source of nutrition for infants. Please consult your pediatrician before introducing or changing infant formula. Infant formula is designed to meet the nutritional requirements of infants according to age. It contains carbohydrates, which are an essential part of infant nutrition. As with any carbohydrate-containing liquids, frequent or prolonged contact with the teeth may increase the risk of tooth decay. To support healthy dental habits, avoid extended bottle use and encourage transitioning to a cup when age-appropriate.

Packaging may change without notice. Always follow the preparation, storage, and feeding instructions provided on your product packaging.

When should I switch my baby to HiPP Stage 2 formula?

HiPP Stage 2 formula is specifically designed for babies from 6 months onwards as they begin their journey with solid foods. This follow-on formula provides the ideal nutritional support during this important developmental phase when your little one needs more iron and nutrients to complement their expanding diet. Always consult with your pediatrician before making any changes to ensure the timing is right for your baby's individual needs.

What makes HiPP Stage 2 different from other stage formulas

HiPP Stage 2 provides carefully balanced nutrition for growing babies. Made with organic milk from European organic farms, it contains iron, galacto-oligosaccharide (GOS) prebiotics and the omega-3 fatty acid DHA. As required by EU law, infant and follow-on formula contains DHA. The main carbohydrate is lactose.

Does HiPP Stage 2 contain palm oil and other allergens?

Yes, HiPP Stage 2 contains organic palm oil that is sustainably sourced through certified organic farming practices. The formula also contains milk, whey, lactose, and fish oil as part of its comprehensive nutritional profile. If your baby has known allergies or sensitivities, it's important to review the full ingredient list with your healthcare provider. For babies with special dietary needs, explore our HiPP Hypoallergenic Formula options.

How should I properly prepare and store HiPP Stage 2 formula?

To prepare HiPP Stage 2, boil fresh drinking water and let it cool. HiPP's pack instructs cooling to about 104°F to 122°F (40°C to 50°C) so the natural lactic-acid cultures are not damaged. Because powdered formula is not sterile, the CDC and WHO note that water at about 158°F (70°C) further lowers the risk of Cronobacter, especially for newborns and higher-risk infants; at that temperature the cultures may not survive. Follow the instructions on your pack and ask your pediatrician which approach is right for your baby. Add the correct amount of cooled boiled water to the bottle following the feeding table, then use only the enclosed measuring scoop to add the matching amount of powder. Close the bottle and shake well until dissolved, then cool to drinking temperature, about 98.6°F (37°C), and always test the temperature before feeding. Do not heat the formula in the microwave. Once opened, reseal the inner pouch, keep it in a dry place at room temperature and use the contents within 3 weeks. The 600 g pack makes about 44 bottles of 100 ml.

What should I do if my baby experiences digestive issues with HiPP Stage 2?

Every baby is different. If your little one shows signs of discomfort, gas, or changes in bowel movements, stop use and consult your pediatrician. They may suggest trying a different formula or checking for possible sensitivities. Any change between formulas should be made gradually over several days to help your baby's system adjust.
