HiPP Dutch Organic Formula Stage 2 for Babies 6-10 Months

HiPP Dutch Organic Formula Stage 2 is a certified EU-organic follow-on formula intended for babies from 6 months alongside the gradual introduction of solid foods. Built on the same HiPP Bio Combiotik foundation as Stage 1, it contains GOS prebiotics from lactose and natural lactic acid cultures, while the nutrient profile evolves to meet the changing needs of older infants. Breast milk remains the best source of nutrition, and parents should consult a pediatrician before introducing any new formula.

A Trusted Brand With Over 125 Years Of Baby-Food Expertise

Founded in 1899 by Joseph and Maria Hipp, HiPP has grown from a small family farm in Bavaria into one of Europe's most recognized organic baby food producers. The company remains family-run under its fourth generation, maintaining a private organic quality standard that the company states goes beyond the EU organic regulation.

HiPP Dutch Stage 2 carries the EU organic leaf, identified by the control-body code DE-ÖKO-001 and independently inspected by Contrôle Certisys. Under this EU organic leaf, the organic ingredients may come from EU and non-EU agriculture. HiPP additionally applies its own HiPP Bio quality standard, which is HiPP's own company standard rather than an independent certification. This formula is not Demeter certified.

Designed for Babies from 6 Months

Stage 2 is a follow-on formula for babies who have begun or are beginning complementary feeding. Its nutrient composition is adjusted for this developmental stage, with iron and other micronutrients calibrated for older infants who are no longer exclusively formula-fed.

Like Stage 1, the HiPP Dutch line is formulated without added starch or maltodextrin, keeping lactose as the primary carbohydrate source alongside GOS prebiotics from lactose.

Ingredients and Composition

The protein base is organic skimmed cow's milk (Magere melk) and organic whey product (weiproduct), providing intact cow's milk protein. The formula is not hydrolyzed and is not suitable for infants with a confirmed cow's milk protein allergy. Carbohydrates are supplied by lactose only, with no starch or maltodextrin in the ingredient list.

The vegetable oil blend includes organic palm oil. DHA is derived from fish oil (visolie). ARA is not present in Stage 2. The GOS prebiotic and natural lactic acid culture together make up the Combiotik combination used across the HiPP range

Sourced and Shipped Authentically from Europe

EU infant formula regulations require DHA in every can, a standard that remains optional in the US. Organic Formula Europe imports factory-sealed cans directly from European distributors, so the product that arrives at your door is identical to what Dutch families buy in their local pharmacy.

Cans are inspected for seal integrity and freshness. The expiration date on the base of each can is printed in European DD/MM/YYYY format. If you are building a supply, our team is happy to advise on rotation and storage.

Preparation and Transitioning Between Stages

Always prepare each bottle fresh according to the instructions on the can. Use water that has been boiled and cooled appropriately. Powdered infant formula is not a sterile product, so follow safe preparation guidance from your healthcare provider.

If your baby is moving on from HiPP Dutch Stage 2, Stage 3 is available for babies around 10 to 12 months. Speak with your pediatrician about the right time to progress.

How to Prepare Powdered Formula

  1. Boil fresh water for each feed and let it cool to the temperature printed on your can. Powdered infant formula is not sterile, so the CDC and WHO advise that water at about 158°F (70°C) lowers the risk of Cronobacter, especially for newborns and higher-risk infants. Follow your can's instructions and ask your pediatrician which approach is right for your baby.
  2. Pour about two-thirds of the required water into a clean, sterilized bottle.
  3. Use only the scoop provided with your formula pack (sizes may vary). Add the correct number of level scoops - 1 scoop per 1 oz / 30 ml of water.
  4. Close the bottle with the nipple and cap. Shake vigorously until all powder is dissolved.
  5. Add the remaining water and shake again.
  6. Cool to drinking temperature (approx. 98 °F / 37 °C). Always test the milk temperature before feeding to avoid scalding your baby.

Important Information

  1. Only use the scoop included in the package.
  2. Do not make feeds weaker or stronger than indicated. Do not add extra water, scoops, or other ingredients.
  3. Always prepare fresh. Do not prepare bottles in advance. Discard any leftovers after each feed.
  4. Never heat bottles in the microwave - hot spots can cause burns.
  5. Once opened, use formula within 21 days. Never use beyond the expiration date printed on the box/tin (format: day/month/year).
  6. Avoid storing formula in hot or humid environments.

Breast milk is the best source of nutrition for infants. Please consult your pediatrician before introducing or changing infant formula. Infant formula is designed to meet the nutritional requirements of infants according to age. It contains carbohydrates, which are an essential part of infant nutrition. As with any carbohydrate-containing liquids, frequent or prolonged contact with the teeth may increase the risk of tooth decay. To support healthy dental habits, avoid extended bottle use and encourage transitioning to a cup when age-appropriate.

Packaging may change without notice. Always follow the preparation, storage, and feeding instructions provided on your product packaging.

What makes HiPP Dutch Stage 2 different from regular formulas available in stores?

HiPP Dutch Stage 2 is certified organic under EU organic rules and uses lactose as its only carbohydrate source, with no maltodextrin or starch. It contains galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS) from lactose and natural lactic acid cultures (Lactobacillus fermentum CECT5716), both listed on the ingredient panel. As an EU organic product, it is produced without genetically modified organisms (GMOs). These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA, and this product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Breast milk remains the best source of nutrition; ask your pediatrician if you have questions about choosing a formula.

When should I transition my baby from Stage 1 to Stage 2 formula?

Follow-on formula such as HiPP Formula Stage 2 is intended for babies from around 6 months, alongside the introduction of solid foods. HiPP Dutch Stage 2 provides 1.0 mg of iron per 100 ml of prepared formula, about twice the 0.5 mg in Stage 1, in line with the higher iron needs of older infants who are no longer exclusively formula-fed. It is a follow-on formula meant to be used together with complementary foods as your baby begins to explore new tastes and textures. Breast milk remains the best source of nutrition; talk with your pediatrician about the right time to move between stages.

How is HiPP Dutch Stage 2 formulated?

HiPP Dutch Stage 2 uses lactose as its only carbohydrate source and contains no starch or maltodextrin. It also contains galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS) from lactose and natural lactic acid cultures (Lactobacillus fermentum CECT5716), both listed on the ingredient panel. The vegetable oil blend uses organic palm, rapeseed, and sunflower oils, which supply the essential fatty acids linoleic acid (LA) and alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). These ingredients have not been evaluated by the FDA, and this product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition, including colic or digestive discomfort. Every baby is different; if your baby has a sensitive stomach or feeding difficulties, talk with your pediatrician about the right formula.

How much formula should my 6-10 month old baby drink daily?

Between 6 and 10 months, formula intake varies from baby to baby and usually decreases as solid foods are introduced. Each 800 g can of HiPP Dutch Stage 2 makes about 59 bottles of 100 ml, which is roughly 200 US fluid ounces of prepared formula. Every baby is different, and appetite can vary from day to day. Follow your baby's hunger cues and ask your pediatrician for the feeding amounts that are right for your child, especially during weaning.

Why does HiPP Dutch Stage 2 contain fish oil?

The fish oil in HiPP Dutch Stage 2 is the source of DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), an omega-3 fatty acid. Under EU infant formula rules, DHA is required in all infant and follow-on formulas, which is why every can contains it. HiPP Dutch Stage 2 also contains ALA (alpha-linolenic acid) from its vegetable oils. These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA, and this product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. If you have questions about fish oil or your baby's diet, talk with your pediatrician
