Organic Formula Europe Team

The Organic Formula Europe Team is the editorial team behind the articles in our Knowledge blog. We are a family business based in Germany, founded by parents, and we have spent years shipping European infant formula to families across the United States.

We do not manufacture formula. We source it from established European manufacturers including HiPP, Holle and Kendamil, we store it in climate-controlled facilities in Germany, and we ship it sealed. That day to day work is where most of our knowledge comes from: label differences between the German, Dutch and UK lines, how the European stage system maps onto American feeding advice, which questions parents actually ask before they order, and what changes when a manufacturer updates a recipe.

What We Publish

Our articles are written for parents in the United States who are considering, or already using, European infant formula. They cover ingredients and labelling, the stage system, preparation and storage, brand and product comparisons, and the regulatory differences between the European Union and the United States.

We write about what we sell, and we say so openly. Where an article recommends a product we carry, that is a commercial interest, and we would rather name it than hide it. We also name the limits of our products, including the ones that cost us a sale.

How We Research

Every article is built on primary sources, in this order of preference:

  • U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
  • American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
  • National Institutes of Health (NIH) and PubMed
  • European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN)
  • National Health Service (NHS)
  • Manufacturer statements and product labels, cited with a date

Every external source is opened and checked before it is cited. We do not cite from memory and we do not link to pages we have not read. Claims about prices, availability and recalls carry the date on which we checked them, because those change.

Our Editorial Standards

  • No health claims and no diagnoses. We write that something may help some babies, never that it treats or cures anything.
  • Breastfeeding is never disparaged. It remains the recommended starting point where it works for a family. Formula is an option alongside it, not an argument against it.
  • European formulas are not FDA approved. We state this plainly rather than writing around it.
  • Medical questions belong with a doctor. For suspected allergies, reflux and colic, we say so in the article rather than offering a product as the answer.
  • We correct openly. When we get something wrong, we fix the article and note what changed rather than quietly editing it away.

Who Writes and Who Reviews

Articles carry the name of whoever wrote them. Pieces written by our editorial team are published under Organic Formula Europe Team. Pieces written by Ashlen Wilder, our health and nutrition writer, carry her byline. We do not put one person's name on another person's work.

Because infant feeding is a health topic, our articles are reviewed by a qualified physician. Medical review is carried out by Dr. Baran Erdik, MD, MHPA. Articles that have been reviewed carry the reviewer's name and the date of the most recent review. Where an article has not yet been reviewed, it does not carry that label.
