Kendamil Organic Formula Stage 1 is a certified organic cow milk infant formula made in the English Lake District and intended for babies from birth to 6 months. What Makes Stage 1 Different
Stage 1 is designed for newborns and infants from birth through 6 months, covering the full first feeding stage before solids are introduced. Unlike many European formulas that use skimmed cow milk reconstituted with added fats, Kendamil Organic Stage 1 is built on organic whole cow milk. This means the natural fat profile of the milk is largely preserved rather than stripped and replaced.
Kendamil Organic contains no palm oil. In place of palm oil, the formula uses a blend of organic vegetable oils to supply the fatty acids infants need. DHA, the long-chain omega-3 fatty acid required in all EU infant formulas, is sourced from Schizochytrium sp. marine algae rather than fish oil, keeping the formula suitable for vegetarian families. Ingredients and Composition
The carbohydrate source is lactose derived from milk, supplemented with organic galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS). No maltodextrin or starch is listed in the registry. GOS are prebiotic fibers that support a balanced gut microbiome in infants.
The formula contains no hydrolyzed protein. It is a standard intact-protein formula, not intended for babies with a diagnosed cow's milk protein allergy. Preparation and Everyday Use
Always follow the preparation instructions printed on the can. Use freshly boiled water that has been allowed to cool to the temperature specified on the label, and measure scoops level with the scoop provided. Prepared formula should be used promptly and any unused portion discarded.
Store unopened cans in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Once opened, keep the can tightly closed and use within the period stated on the packaging.
How to Prepare Powdered Formula
- Boil fresh water for each feed and let it cool to the temperature printed on your can. Powdered infant formula is not sterile, so the CDC and WHO advise that water at about 158°F (70°C) lowers the risk of Cronobacter, especially for newborns and higher-risk infants. Follow your can's instructions and ask your pediatrician which approach is right for your baby.
- Pour about two-thirds of the required water into a clean, sterilized bottle.
- Use only the scoop provided with your formula pack (sizes may vary). Add the correct number of level scoops - 1 scoop per 1 oz / 30 ml of water.
- Close the bottle with the nipple and cap. Shake vigorously until all powder is dissolved.
- Add the remaining water and shake again.
- Cool to drinking temperature (approx. 98 °F / 37 °C). Always test the milk temperature before feeding to avoid scalding your baby.
Important Information
- Only use the scoop included in the package.
- Do not make feeds weaker or stronger than indicated. Do not add extra water, scoops, or other ingredients.
- Always prepare fresh. Do not prepare bottles in advance. Discard any leftovers after each feed.
- Never heat bottles in the microwave - hot spots can cause burns.
- Once opened, use formula within 21 days. Never use beyond the expiration date printed on the box/tin (format: day/month/year).
- Avoid storing formula in hot or humid environments.
