Holle Organic Goat Formula Stage 2 for Babies 6 to 12 Months

Holle Organic Goat Formula Stage 2 is a Demeter biodynamic follow-on formula for babies from around 6 months who are being introduced to solid foods alongside continued formula feeding. Based on whole goat milk powder from biodynamic farms, Stage 2 builds naturally on Stage 1 while adapting the nutrient profile to suit a growing baby's changing needs. Holle has produced organic baby nutrition in Germany since 1933, and this stage carries Demeter certification. Please consult your pediatrician before moving to a new formula stage or introducing complementary feeding.

Holle and Demeter Biodynamic Standards

Holle was founded in 1933 in Riehen, Switzerland, and has made organic baby food in Germany for over 90 years. Its commitment to biodynamic farming through the Demeter certification scheme sets it apart from brands that meet only standard EU organic requirements. Demeter audits cover the entire farm system, including biodiversity practices and the prohibition of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers.

Holle Goat Stage 2 carries Demeter certification with a biodynamic ingredient share of 74 percent. The remaining ingredients are certified EU organic. All goat milk in this formula comes from Demeter-certified herds.

Follow-On Formula from Six Months

Stage 2 is a follow-on formula intended to be used alongside the gradual introduction of solid foods. It is not a replacement for breast milk, which remains the gold standard of infant nutrition and is recommended by the AAP for around the first six months. This formula is designed to complement a mixed feeding approach as babies begin exploring first foods.

The formula uses whole goat milk powder as its base, which is naturally higher in A2 beta-casein protein. Goat milk formula is not hypoallergenic and is not appropriate for infants with a diagnosed cow's milk protein allergy due to cross-reactivity. If you have concerns about allergies, speak with your baby's doctor before choosing this product. Browse the full Holle goat milk collection or compare this stage with Holle Goat Stage 1.

Ingredients and Composition

Stage 2 introduces maltodextrin and starch alongside lactose to support the energy needs of a more active, growing baby. Vegetable oils are sunflower oil and rapeseed oil. This formula contains no palm oil.

DHA is provided by oil from the microalgae Schizochytrium sp. ARA is not present in Stage 2. The formula is free from artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives, and all dairy ingredients are from organic biodynamic farming.

Sourced in Europe, Shipped to Your Door

Organic Formula Europe ships authentic Holle cans directly from Europe to the United States. You receive the same product available in European organic grocers and pharmacies, sealed and within its full shelf life.

Holle's EU organic and Demeter certifications are issued under European regulatory frameworks and are not equivalent to USDA organic certification, which is a separate US standard. Both reflect a high standard for agricultural practice.

Preparation and Use

Prepare each bottle fresh following the instructions printed on the can. Use water at the recommended temperature and discard any formula remaining after a feed. Never save prepared formula between feedings.

All feeding equipment should be cleaned and sterilized before each use. Powdered formula is not sterile, so careful preparation is important at every stage.

How to Prepare Powdered Formula

  1. Boil fresh water for each feed and let it cool to the temperature printed on your can. Powdered infant formula is not sterile, so the CDC and WHO advise that water at about 158°F (70°C) lowers the risk of Cronobacter, especially for newborns and higher-risk infants. Follow your can's instructions and ask your pediatrician which approach is right for your baby.
  2. Pour about two-thirds of the required water into a clean, sterilized bottle.
  3. Use only the scoop provided with your formula pack (sizes may vary). Add the correct number of level scoops - 1 scoop per 1 oz / 30 ml of water.
  4. Close the bottle with the nipple and cap. Shake vigorously until all powder is dissolved.
  5. Add the remaining water and shake again.
  6. Cool to drinking temperature (approx. 98 °F / 37 °C). Always test the milk temperature before feeding to avoid scalding your baby.

Important Information

  1. Only use the scoop included in the package.
  2. Do not make feeds weaker or stronger than indicated. Do not add extra water, scoops, or other ingredients.
  3. Always prepare fresh. Do not prepare bottles in advance. Discard any leftovers after each feed.
  4. Never heat bottles in the microwave - hot spots can cause burns.
  5. Once opened, use formula within 21 days. Never use beyond the expiration date printed on the box/tin (format: day/month/year).
  6. Avoid storing formula in hot or humid environments.

Breast milk is the best source of nutrition for infants. Please consult your pediatrician before introducing or changing infant formula. Infant formula is designed to meet the nutritional requirements of infants according to age. It contains carbohydrates, which are an essential part of infant nutrition. As with any carbohydrate-containing liquids, frequent or prolonged contact with the teeth may increase the risk of tooth decay. To support healthy dental habits, avoid extended bottle use and encourage transitioning to a cup when age-appropriate.

Packaging may change without notice. Always follow the preparation, storage, and feeding instructions provided on your product packaging.

What makes Holle Organic Goat Formula Stage 2 different from cow's milk formulas?

Holle Organic Goat Formula Stage 2 is crafted with whole organic goat's milk, which naturally contains smaller fat molecules and forms softer curds in baby's tummy compared to cow's milk. This unique composition makes it gentler on developing digestive systems. The formula is particularly beneficial for babies who may experience sensitivity with traditional cow's milk formulas. Additionally, goat's milk naturally contains slightly less lactose than cow's milk, which can be helpful for little ones with mild lactose sensitivities. At Organic Formulas, we offer this premium alternative for parents seeking the highest quality nutrition for their babies.

At what age should I transition my baby to Holle Goat Stage 2?

Holle Goat Stage 2 is specifically designed for babies from 6 months onwards. This follow-on formula is perfect for babies who have been using Holle Goat Stage 1, but it's equally suitable for babies switching from other formula brands or those transitioning from exclusive breastfeeding. The Stage 2 formula contains age-appropriate nutrients including increased iron content and essential vitamins to support your growing baby's developmental needs during this crucial phase of introducing solid foods alongside formula feeding.

What are the main ingredients in Holle Goat Stage 2?

This premium formula features whole organic goat's milk as its primary ingredient, sourced from biodynamically raised goats following strict Demeter standards. The formula also includes organic lactose for natural sweetness, organic maltodextrin for creaminess and satiation, and a carefully selected blend of organic vegetable oils including sunflower and rapeseed oil. Essential nutrients such as calcium, iron, zinc, and vitamins A, C, D, and B12 are added to ensure complete nutrition. The formula contains DHA from sustainable algae sources and is completely free from artificial preservatives, chemicals, flavors, colors, soy, and GMOs. You can explore our full range of Holle Goat Milk Formula options to find the perfect stage for your little one.

Is Holle Goat Formula Stage 2 suitable for babies with allergies?

While Holle Goat Formula Stage 2 is often well-tolerated by babies who experience mild sensitivities to cow's milk, it's important to note that this is not a hypoallergenic formula. Goat's milk proteins are structurally different from cow's milk proteins, which may make them easier for some babies to digest. However, babies with diagnosed cow's milk protein allergy may still react to goat's milk proteins due to cross-reactivity. Always consult with your pediatrician before switching formulas, especially if your baby has known allergies or digestive concerns.

How does the Demeter certification benefit my baby?

The Demeter certification represents the gold standard in biodynamic farming, going beyond typical organic standards. For Holle Goat Formula Stage 2, this means the goats are raised on farms that follow holistic agricultural practices, ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare and environmental sustainability. The goats graze on pesticide-free pastures, are never given antibiotics or growth hormones, and live in conditions that respect their natural behaviors. This results in milk of exceptional quality and purity, which translates directly to superior nutrition for your baby. The Demeter certification guarantees that 74% of the agricultural ingredients in this formula come from biodynamic farming, providing peace of mind for parents who prioritize both their baby's health and environmental responsibility.
